To encourage compliance with the Republic Act No. 11934 or the SIM Registration Act (SRA), DITO Telecommunity is offering a bonus of 2GB of all-access data for every successful SIM registration. The bonus data will be credited to the subscriber's account within 24-48 hours after registration.
The SRA, which went into effect on December 27, 2022, mandates that all new subscribers register their SIM card before activation and that all current subscribers do the same to prevent deactivation. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) published the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the SRA, which set forth the rules for putting the law into effect.
The law encourages accountability in SIM card usage and gives competent authorities the tools they need to identify and end illegal activities like text scams, cybercrimes, terrorism, and other offenses committed through text messages, voice calls, and other pertinent telecommunications services.
The bonus offer from DITO Telecommunity is a strategy for the company to express its support for the SRA and to nudge its customers toward legal compliance. All DITO Telecommunity services, including voice calls, text messages, and internet browsing, are compatible with the bonus data.
Subscribers are advised to register their SIM cards at the closest DITO Telecommunity store or authorized dealer and online at https://register.dito.ph if they need to. The fast and simple registration process only requires a valid ID, a front-facing photo with the ID, and proof of address.
