TACLOBAN CITY – Three former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members received a Php40,000 grant from the Northern Samar Provincial Government on January 20, 2023, as immediate aid and livelihood assistance under the Local Social Integration Program at the Northern Samar Provincial Capitol.
The grant was awarded by the Darangpan Center Administrative Staff in the presence of the 2nd Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by PLtCol Alex C Dang-aoen, the Force Commander of the station.
The program, known as the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), aims to provide support to former members of the CTG to help them reintegrate into society
In his statement, PLtCol Dang-aoen urged other members of the CTG who may still be in the boondocks to consider surrendering and giving up their armed struggle against the government.
"These benefits provided by our government will never be given to you by the terrorist group, so I strongly urge you, those still struggling in the boondocks, to submit yourselves to us. Enough with your futile armed struggle against our government so that you may live a peaceful and happy life," he said.
The government also encourages other members of the CTG to voluntarily surrender and start anew for a more prosperous, peaceful, and stable life. The E-CLIP program is a crucial aspect of the government's efforts to address the decades-long insurgency problem in the country, and the grant provided to these former members is a step towards achieving lasting peace in the region.
