VIRAL – A former domestic helper in Hong Kong, Daisy Bucad-Eng, has become an instant millionaire thanks to the generosity of her former employer. Daisy shared her story on the Filipino television program "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" on Facebook, highlighting her good fortune and her kind relationship with her employer, Madam Marie.
Originally from Mountain Province in the Philippines, Daisy was only 16 years old when she married and had to find work to support her family. She initially started selling salt, but it wasn't enough to get by. Like many of her neighbors, she decided to work as a domestic helper abroad.
However, her first experiences working for employers in Hong Kong were unpleasant. That was until she met Madam Marie, an elderly Portuguese woman who became her employer and treated her like a member of her own family.
Daisy was content with her job despite earning only 900 HKD (approximately P2,700) per month because Madam Marie treated her well.

In fact, Madam Marie even accompanied Daisy back to the Philippines and stayed in her home rather than return to a home for the aged in Hong Kong. They had a wonderful relationship, with Madam Marie even taking Daisy to visit beautiful and religious places.
Unfortunately, in 2002, Madam Marie passed away due to a serious illness. Daisy was devastated, having considered her employer a friend and family member.
As a token of gratitude for Daisy's dedicated service, Madam Marie included her in her will. Daisy was shocked when she received a letter informing her of her inheritance, which included an apartment worth 26 million pesos, stocks in various companies, and dollars amounting to 25 million pesos.
Out of love and gratitude for Madam Marie, Daisy gave her a special space in her home as a memorial.
Finally, Daisy has a message for other overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) like herself:
