A low-pressure area (LPA) continues to affect a large portion of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

It was last seen 230 km East Southeast of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, at 3:00 pm today, January 12.

The LPA and another weather system continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Occidental, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and the rest of Visayas.

The northeastern monsoon will also bring rain to Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, MIMAROPA, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA also warned that the eastern coasts of Luzon and the Visayas will experience high waves, making it unsafe for small fishing and seagoing vessels to venture out to sea. —iTacloban
