President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has issued a directive to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to remain focused on areas affected by bad weather as the Philippines continues to experience inclement weather in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
The directive also calls for coordination with local government units (LGUs) to ensure that necessary aid is provided to affected constituents.
According to a report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), a low-pressure area has been monitored in Surigao del Norte that is expected to bring rainfall to the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Areas affected by this weather system include Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.
The NDRRMC, in compliance with the directive of President Marcos Jr., is closely monitoring the low-pressure area and working with LGUs to prepare for potential weather-related hazards.
Said agency is also constantly communicating with PAGASA to stay updated on the weather system's development and potential impact.
