TACLOBAN CITY – A team of inspectors and engineers inspected the newly constructed Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Regional Office VIII Building in Tacloban City on February 2, 2023.
The new four-story building was completed by the Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) on October 19, 2022, and features modern facilities such as air conditioning units, a generator set, an elevator, a powerhouse, and pump room, a CCTV system, and a fire alarm system.
The technical working group from COMELEC, accompanied by personnel from TCDEO's Construction Section and Planning and Design Section, conducted a thorough inspection of the building's rooms and facilities with the oversight of the Director of the Administrative Services Department from COMELEC Central Office, Regional Director of COMELEC Regional Office VIII, Atty. Jose Nick A. Mendros, and the Provincial Supervisor of Leyte, Atty. Karen Cajipo.
Atty. Mendros expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the construction of the new building, stating that having their own office after years of renting was a lifelong dream. "I would like to say that I am very proud that we now have this building," he said. Hopefully, we'll be able to occupy and relocate here soon."
The new COMELEC Regional Office VIII Building marks an important milestone for the Commission and will provide its employees with a modern and functional workspace. The building's comprehensive facilities and amenities are expected to contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of COMELEC's services to the region. (Source: DPWH-TCDEO)
