The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 (DOLE-RO8) has been accredited as the first Assessment Center for Public Employment Services National Certificate IV (PES NC IV) among the 16 Regional Offices of the department.
This announcement was made by Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, who personally received the Certificate of Accreditation from Provincial Director Rolando V. Bade of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority-Leyte Provincial Office last February 14, 2023, at Hotel de Fides in Tacloban City.
The DOLE-RO8 Public Employment Service Assessment Center underwent a thorough assessment to verify its readiness as an accredited center and compliance with the minimum requirements prescribed in the TESDA Board's Training Regulation for the recently approved PES- NC IV competency qualifications. The review of requirements included faculty and staff qualifications, physical site and facilities, tools, equipment, supplies, and materials in accordance with the PES-NC IV training regulation.
TESDA-LPO, on February 3, 2023, endorsed the compliance of the DOLE-RO8 PES Assessment Center to the qualifications set by TESDA. The heads of the different Provincial Field Offices, Division Chiefs, Regional Employment Focal Ms. Karmela G. de la Sierra, and TESDA Assessment Center Focal Angelica Daza were present during the awarding of the certificate.
The creation and accreditation of the DOLE-RO8 PES Assessment Center are in line with the promulgation of PES training regulation, which has set the foundation for the professionalization of Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs). According to Director Jalbuena, the importance of offering PES NC IV to the PESO Managers of Eastern Visayas has been underscored, and the need for an assessment center in the region has been recognized.
"We continuously aspire for service quality, and this PES NC IV Assessment Center is one way to boost the delivery of our employment facilitation programs and services to our clients," said Jalbuena.
Currently, 22 PESO Managers from Eastern Visayas and DOLE-RO8 personnel have obtained their PES NC IV through TESDA's Assessment Center. With the creation and accreditation of the DOLE RO8 PES Assessment Center, professionalizing all PESO Managers in the Eastern Visayas is already within reach. Other PESO Managers who have not yet taken the PES NC IV are already scheduled for assessment in the newly-established DOLE-RO8 Assessment Center.
