TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No. 8 recently held the Regional PESO Congress cum Year-End Performance Assessment on March 2-3, 2023, at the Carlosta Hotel in Ormoc City. The event was attended by 240 PESO Managers and Job Placement Officers from various municipalities and academic institutions in Eastern Visayas.
The two-day event aimed to acknowledge the significant role of Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in successfully delivering employment facilitation programs in the region. DOLE-8 Director IV of the Bureau of Local Employment, Patrick P. Patriwirawan Jr., and Assistant Regional Director Norman L. Uyvico graced the event with their presence.
During his message, Director Patriwirawan expressed his warm congratulations to Region 8 PESO Managers for their remarkable accomplishments in different employment facilitation programs of DOLE. He also commended DOLE-8 for establishing its own PES NC IV Assessment Center and having PESO Managers who are PES NC IV holders.
Moreover, the event featured plenary sessions with engaging learning topics such as Developmental Conversations for Leaders, Developing a Local Employment Strategy and Action Plan, Labor Force Statistics and In-demand jobs in Eastern Visayas, and Stress Management and Emotional Intelligence for Leaders.
The highlight of the PESO Congress was the recognition of the best-performing PESOs in the region for 2022 in terms of Referral and Placement, timely submission of SPRS and LMI reports, delivery of core services, advocating PESO Institutionalization, PES NC IV Qualifications, and the use of PESO Information System (PEIS). Among the awardees were Barugo, Alangalang, Capoocan, MacArthur, Merida, Ormoc City, Silago, Basey, Biliran Province State University, Balangkayan, Maydolong, Salcedo, Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), and Province of Northern Samar.
Additionally, DOLE-8 awarded the Secretary Bayanihan Service Award to Ormoc City, Merida, Tomas Oppus, Inopacan, Basey, and ESSU. Best PEIS User Awards were also given to PESOs of Tacloban City, Tunga, Province of Leyte, Ormoc City, Merida, Hilongos, Naval Institute of Technology, Province of Samar, Motiong, Hinunangan, Hinundayan, Catarman, and Province of Northern Samar.
Furthermore, Mr. Norman Victor M. Ordiz, President of the PESO Managers Association of Eastern Visayas (PESOMAEV), received the Leadership Award. —iTacloban (Source: DOLE-8)
