DSWD-8 distributes assistance to individuals, families in need across EV

TACLOBAN CITY– The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Eastern Visayas (DSWD-8) has recently distributed financial assistance to individuals and families in need across the region through its program, Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

Last April 20, 2023, 267 families in Maslog, Eastern Samar, received Php 2,000 each, amounting to Php534,000, for their immediate educational needs. 

On the same day, 165 impoverished families in the Municipality of Palapag and the Municipality of Pambujan, Northern Samar, also received Php3,000 each, totaling Php495,000, for the urgent needs of their children who are studying.

AICS is a government program that assists individuals and families needing medical, funeral, food, transportation, educational, and other support services. The clients undergo a thorough assessment by social workers and submit the necessary documentary requirements depending on the assistance they need.

Meanwhile, 83 Barangay Health Workers in Kananga, Leyte, also received Php2,000 each, totaling Php166,000, on April 21, 2023, through the AICS program.

In addition, 885 farmers, fisherfolks, laborers, and tricycle drivers currently experiencing a crisis or immediate needs received Php3,000 each from the AICS program in Santa Margarita, Samar, on April 21, 2023.
