TACLOBAN CITY — Mayor Alfred Romualdez of this city is among the top-performing mayors in the Eastern Visayas region, according to the recently released "Boses ng Bayan" performance assessment survey conducted by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
Romualdez received a score of 88.8%, putting him in second place behind Nacional Mercado of Maasin City, who garnered 90.2%.
The independent and non-commissioned survey conducted from February 25 to March 8, 2023, aimed to assess the job performance of city mayors in Eastern Visayas.
The assessment evaluated the efforts and dedication of mayors to their respective communities. Other top-performing mayors included Lucy Torres-Gomez of Ormoc City, Jose Carlos Cari of Baybay City, Monmon Uy of Calbayog City, Dexter Uy of Catbalogan City, and Jose Ivan Dayan of Borongan City.

RPMD's Dr. Paul Martinez stated that the survey serves as a tool to highlight the outstanding efforts and dedication of these mayors to their respective communities.
The assessment also emphasized the importance of holding elected officials accountable to ensure they work toward the betterment of their communities. Regular assessments can help ensure that cities continue to prosper and thrive.
Mayor Romualdez has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to his city's progress. He has initiated several projects aimed at improving Tacloban City's infrastructure, tourism, and disaster resilience.
The results of the Eastern Visayas City Mayors’ performance survey are part of the “Boses ng Bayan” national poll, a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of public officials.
