TACLOBAN CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 8, under Regional Director Gualberto N. Gualberto, has achieved another milestone in the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) with the launch of four modernized buses manufactured by HINO.
The launch took place on April 20, 2023, at Brgy. Cogon Combado, Ormoc City.
The modernized PUV units will ply the route from Maasin City, Leyte to Catubig, Northern Samar via Ormoc City, Leyte to Allen, Northern Samar, and V.V. routes.
During the launch, WEGA Transport Corp. was awarded the Provisional Authority (P.A.) for the approved route by Regional Director Gualberto. HINO Leyte Inc. General Manager Aldwin D. Abing presented the key to WEGA Transport Corp. Chairman Ferdinand R. Trinidad, President Gina Priscila P. Trinidad, and Vice President Gino Nicolo P. Trinidad.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by special guests, city councilors of Ormoc, and Director Gualberto.
The PUVMP is a crucial initiative in the transport sector, to create a well-managed and environmentally sustainable transport service. Its vision is a transport sector where commuters can reach their destinations safely and comfortably while public transport drivers and operators have dignified livelihoods.
By providing safe, reliable, and comfortable modes of transport to the public, the program also ensures drivers and operators have a stable and sufficient source of income. —iTacloban
