TACLOBAN CITY – Social pensioners from nine barangays in Tacloban North received their government stipend in simultaneous payouts held in two public-covered courts last Friday. 866 beneficiaries claimed their pension for the first semester of the year, covering the period from January to June, amounting to Php 3,000 each.
The payouts were held at the public-covered courts of Brgy. Tigbao and New Kawayan, covering Brgy. 100 San Roque, 99 Diit, 94 Tigbao, 94-A Basper, 104 Salvacion, 103 Paglaum, 103 Palanog, 37-A Palanog, and 12 Palanog.
The event was a relief for the beneficiaries, who rely on the aid to support their daily needs. According to Virginia Lelis, the payout's focal person, the fund release will now be conducted every six months in keeping with the new schedule of the social welfare department. The next payout may be held either in October or November.
The schedule of payouts in other areas of the city will be posted once they are finalized.
To streamline the release of the government stipend, social pensioners were asked to prepare five photocopies of their senior citizen's ID in advance, which they presented at the venue to claim their pension.
If the social pensioner cannot claim the assistance, a representative may be allowed to claim the government aid by presenting five photocopies of his government-issued ID and the pensioner's senior citizen's ID and signing an authorization form available at the payout venue. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
