TACLOBAN CITY – The Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC), in collaboration with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Leyte Field Office II and EVMC Chaplaincy, has launched a comprehensive Training of Trainers Program. Aimed at enhancing its workforce's professional and ethical values, the program took place from November 2022 to March 2023.

Recognizing the critical role of values in the demanding realm of healthcare, the EVMC-Values Restoration Program (VRP) Committee sought the guidance of the CSC and the EVMC Chaplaincy, both renowned for their commitment to high standards of public service.

The planning phase began in August 2022, involving several consultations among various stakeholders, including the Personnel Development Committee, the Professional Education, Training, and Research Office, and the institution's frontline departments.

Ma. Natividad Costibolo, Director of the CSC Leyte Field Office II and one of the Subject-Matter Experts involved in the program underscored the importance of the initiative.

She stressed that the training program aims to cultivate and reinforce essential values that underpin effective and compassionate healthcare. "The primary objective is to nurture and enhance the core values of EVMC's employees, fostering an environment of excellence, empathy, and integrity," Costibolo added.

EVMC Chaplains Rev. Fr. Jasper Rellesiva and Rev. Fr. Erik Montejo, also Subject-Matter Experts for the program, participated in the dry run where trained employees delivered the learning and development intervention using a combination of strategies.

The program culminated with impressive results, witnessing the graduation of thirty-two speakers, nine facilitators, six secretariat members, and six moderators.

This achievement marks just the first step of the four-year Values Restoration Program learning intervention, which began rolling out in the last week of March 2023 and will be undertaken by all employees and outsourced personnel of EVMC. —iTacloban
