TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office conducted a groundbreaking ceremony on April 26, 2023, to kick off two significant infrastructure projects in Kananga, Leyte.
District Engineer Arnaldo R. Bonifacio led the ceremony, accompanied by Leyte 4th District Representative Richard I. Gomez, Kananga Mayor Manuel Vicente M. Torres, and barangay officials.
The first project is a multi-purpose building with a contract amount of Php 4,900,086.51, set to be constructed in Brgy. Lonoy Elementary School. This building aims to provide a conducive learning environment for students and serve as a venue for extra-curricular activities.
The second project involves the procurement and installation of streetlights in Brgy. Poblacion and Brgy. Rizal, amounting to Php 9,652,999.51. The project aims to illuminate the roads, alert drivers to possible hazards, and improve visibility for residents and motorists. With well-lit streets, drivers can confidently navigate, ensuring the safety of the traveling public.
Both projects receive funding under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2023 and contribute to the development and progress of Kananga, Leyte. These initiatives highlight the government's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens through improved education and infrastructure. —iTacloban
