TACLOBAN CITY – The V&G District Health Center has begun implementing the 'Chikiting Ligtas' campaign, a vital initiative launched on May 1 by the Department of Health in partnership with the local government.
The campaign, which forms part of the broader Measles-Rubella-Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR OPV SIA), seeks to immunize children between the ages of 9 to 59 months with the measles-rubella vaccine.
Additionally, children aged 0 to 59 months are the target for the oral polio vaccine (OPV). The objective is to protect these young ones against vaccine-preventable diseases, thus mitigating the risk of future outbreaks.
To intensify the immunization campaign, numerous teams are performing house-to-house inoculation and administering polio droplets daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each team comprises a navigator, a vaccinator, and a recorder, ensuring the vaccination process runs smoothly and efficiently.
Nurse Supervisor Keena Mate stated that the V&G District Health Center aims to deliver the measles-rubella vaccine to 2,806 children and the oral polio vaccine to 3,294 children.
Serving community members of Barangays 109, 109-A, 95, 95-A, 96, and 36-A community members, the V&G District Health Center strives to enhance child health in these communities through this pivotal immunization program.
The campaign, marking a proactive approach to preventing disease outbreaks, will continue through May 31. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
