TACLOBAN CITY – In a recent report, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) revealed that the total number of registered SIMs in the country has skyrocketed to 97,720,051 as of May 30, 2023.

With the deadline for SIM registration approaching on July 25, the government agency is urging the public to take immediate action.

The breakdown of registered SIM cards by telecom providers shows that Smart leads the pack with 46,221,947 registered SIMs, closely followed by Globe with 44,876,479. DITO, the newcomer in the market, has garnered an impressive 6,621,625 registered SIMs.

To facilitate the registration process, the DICT has provided official SIM Registration Portal links for each telecom company.

Smart users can register their SIM cards by visiting smart.com.ph/simreg or simreg.smart.com.ph, while Globe subscribers can head to new.globe.com.ph/simreg. DITO users are directed to the following link: digital.dito.ph/pto/download/app.

The public needs to note that failure to register their SIM cards before the July 25 deadline will result in automatic deactivation. This deactivation will prevent users from utilizing digital apps and services requiring two-step verification, including online banking, e-commerce transactions, and other digital platforms.

In case of any complaints or concerns regarding SIM registration, individuals can contact the dedicated hotline at 1326. The DICT encourages everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to register their SIM cards promptly to avoid any inconvenience and ensure uninterrupted access to digital services. —iTacloban
