TACLOBAN CITY – The City Government of Tacloban, led by Mayor Alfred Romualdez, has extended medical assistance through Mayor Alfred's Social Action Center to support the well-being of its residents. Nearly a hundred clients successfully applied and passed the assessment process last week, and they received aid during the payout activity on Wednesday (June 21).
The distribution of funds was effectively organized by the MASA Center and the City Social Welfare and Development Office. As the center continues to accept applications, Grace Gozo, the head of MASA Center, advises individuals seeking medical aid to visit their office on weekdays, excluding Wednesdays when the payout occurs.
This recommendation aims to avoid overcrowding and ensure efficient assistance for those in need. The MASA Center operates from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and can be found on the ground floor of the Business One Stop Shop in Kanhuraw Hill.
While the provision of burial assistance is currently unavailable, Gozo emphasizes that individuals requiring medical aid must submit certain requirements. These include two photocopies of a medical certificate, laboratory request/prescription/hospital bill, barangay certificate of indigency (original and photocopy), two photocopies of a valid ID, and a letter addressed to Mayor Alfred Romualdez.
Notably, Mayor Alfred's Social Action Center has been reactivated since July 2021, and deserving indigent Taclobanons have also been able to access burial and educational assistance. The center strives to alleviate the financial burden on residents by providing monetary support for medical concerns, as well as aiding in the pursuit of education. —iTacloban (with reports from CIO)
