TACLOBAN CITY – The provincial government of Southern Leyte, in partnership with the Maasin City Cycling Club, is gearing up for the Tour de Southern Leyte, which will take place from June 24 to 26, 2023. The three-day cycling competition will span 404 kilometers, divided into three stages, showcasing the scenic landscapes and vibrant communities of Southern Leyte.
The first stage will cover a distance of 136 kilometers, starting from the city of Maasin and passing through Sogod, Saint Bernard, San Juan, Anahawan, Hinundayan, and concluding in Hinunangan.
Stage 2 will challenge elite road bikers to navigate a 156-kilometer route from Hinunangan, Silago, back to Hinunangan, and continue through Saint Bernard via the Diversion Road, Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, and ending in Liloan.
The final leg will take participants along a 109-kilometer route from Liloan to Libagon, Sogod, Bontoc, Tomas Oppus, Malitbog, Padre Burgos, Macrohon, and concluding the competition in Maasin City. The Tour de Southern Leyte serves as a platform for athletes to showcase their cycling skills while promoting the province's natural beauty and tourism potential.
With a total prize pool of 160,000 pesos, the Tour de Southern Leyte 2023 aims to recognize and reward the competition's top performers.
