TACLOBAN CITY – A total of 1,316 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Eastern Visayas received their own individual electronic titles (e-titles) from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in a momentous event held at the Leyte Progressive High School (LPHS) gym in Tacloban City.
The regional distribution, led by DAR-8 Regional Director Atty. Robert Anthony Yu and supported by local officials, coincided with the nationwide distribution of land titles and the signing of the New Agrarian Reform Emancipation Act by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr at the Kalayaan Hall in Malacañang Palace.
The distribution of e-titles signifies a significant milestone for the agrarian reform beneficiaries, granting them formal ownership of the land they till. The electronic titles streamline the land titling process, providing beneficiaries with secure and easily accessible documentation of their property rights.
In addition to the land title distribution, the New Agrarian Reform Emancipation Act, signed by President Marcos Jr, includes provisions that condone the amortization of principal payments, interest, and penalties on the land being cultivated by the beneficiaries.
This measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on the ARBs and support their sustainable livelihoods. —iTacloban (Source: PIA-EV)
