TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No. 8 disbursed a significant amount of Php 11,627,000.00 in government assistance to workers in Northern Samar during the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program on July 14, 2023.
The event, held at the Capitol Covered Court, was graced by the presence of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and showcased the joint efforts of the DOLE-8 team, led by Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, and the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, represented by Governor Edwin Ongchuan.
Under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program, 468 beneficiaries were provided with wages totaling Php 1,755,000.00 for their 10-day employment period. These individuals, whose livelihoods were adversely affected by various circumstances, received financial support to ease their burdens.
Moreover, the Government Internship Program (GIP) benefitted 600 individuals from the first and second districts of Northern Samar, who each received stipends amounting to Php 8,250.00. The total disbursed under the GIP program reached Php 4,950,000.00.
In a further show of support, the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) awarded livelihood grants worth Php 4,922,000.00 to beneficiaries, particularly the local government unit of Bobon in Northern Samar and members of the Northern Samar Development Welfare and Child Care Center (NSDWCC), who are part of the DOLE's Service Quality Improvement Project (SQIP).
Director Jalbuena expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Engr. Primo N.
