TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (DPWH-ESDEO) has announced plans to implement 21 school building projects in the province as part of a concerted effort to improve educational facilities in the province. The Php 152.8 million projects aim to enhance the learning environment for students in various schools.
According to District Engineer Alvin A. Ignacio, the 21 school building projects will consist of 19 one-storey, two-classroom-type school buildings, and 2 two-storey, eight-classroom-type school buildings. These structures will be constructed in different schools across Eastern Samar.
The list of schools set to receive these school-building projects includes Buenavista Elementary School in Arteche, Balangiga Central Elementary School in Balangiga, Guinpoliran Elementary School in Balangkayan, Can-avid National High School in Can-avid, and several others.
The DPWH ESDEO has already commenced the procurement process for these school building projects, with the awarding expected next month. This initiative is part of the DPWH's collaboration with the Department of Education to address the pressing need for improved regional school infrastructure.
In addition to the upcoming projects, the DPWH ESDEO has previously completed seven school building projects in 2022, totaling Php 43.508 million, and five school building projects in 2020, amounting to Php 41.673 million. —iTacloban (Source: DPWH-ESDEO)
