TACLOBAN CITY – The Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) took immense pride in being part of the momentous Turnover Ceremony and Inauguration of the newly constructed Regional Election Director Office (REDO) 8 New Building on July 21, 2023. The event held high significance for the region's Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and was graced by distinguished guests and government officials.
The ceremony commenced with warm welcome remarks from Atty. Jose Nick A. Mendros, the esteemed Regional Election Director. Atty. Mendros expressed heartfelt gratitude for the presence of everyone on this joyous occasion. He emphasized the crucial role of the new office building in enhancing the electoral processes and ensuring transparent and efficient elections in Eastern Visayas.
Distinguished personalities also delivered notable messages during the ceremony. Hon. Alfred S. Romualdez, City Mayor of Tacloban City, commended COMELEC's efforts in upholding democracy and safeguarding the integrity of elections. He assured the city's continued support in promoting democratic ideals.
Hon. Ernesto Ferdinand P. Maceda, Jr., Commissioner of the Commission on Elections, shared his insights, highlighting the significance of the new office building in providing a conducive and functional workspace for election officials to carry out their duties effectively.
Hon. George Erwin M. Garcia, Chairman of the Commission on Elections, delivered a motivating speech, commending the dedication and hard work of the COMELEC team. He emphasized the importance of conducting free and fair elections, which form the bedrock of a vibrant democracy.
Atty. Felicisimo A. Embalsado, the Assistant Regional Election Director, delivered the closing remarks, expressing profound appreciation to all attendees. He underscored the collaborative effort that made the construction of the new office building possible, acknowledging the vital role of the Tacloban City District Engineering Office in bringing the project to fruition.
Adding cultural flair to the celebration, the Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company presented a captivating intermission number, showcasing the region's rich heritage and traditional dances.
Before the official ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremony, Rev. Fr. Joselito Laurente led a solemn blessing, invoking divine blessings on the newly constructed building and the officials who would serve within its walls.
With great anticipation, the ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremony took place, symbolizing the official opening of the REDO 8 New Office Building. This milestone marks a new chapter for COMELEC in Eastern Visayas, as the building is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the electoral process.
The celebration culminated with a heartfelt Thanksgiving Lunch, fostering camaraderie and collaboration among the attendees.
