TACLOBAN CITY –The city government is prioritizing the safety and well-being of young people by implementing special measures. The Adolescent Health and Development Tacloban team is actively conducting seminars in various neighborhoods, focusing on addressing issues that are important for youths.
On July 29, the team recently held a seminar at Barangay 98 Camansihay to educate local youths on crucial topics. The seminar covered ways to prevent teenage pregnancies, emphasizing the importance of making responsible choices regarding relationships and sexual health.
In addition, the seminar provided valuable information on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV and AIDS. This knowledge can help youths protect themselves and their partners, reducing the spread of diseases.

Human trafficking, a serious concern affecting vulnerable individuals, was also discussed. The team aimed to raise awareness about this issue and equip young people with knowledge to recognize potential dangers and protect themselves and their peers.
The seminar also addressed mental health, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being and ways to cope with stress and emotional challenges that young individuals may face.
The team highlighted the significance of preventing drug abuse among the youth. Understanding the risks associated with drug use can help young people make better decisions and avoid engaging in harmful activities.
Furthermore, the team organized an Adolescent Health Forum on the same day for youths from SOS Village Tacloban Barangay 5-A, Barangay 37-A, and SOS Children’s Village Tacloban.
