Tacloban City Hospital (TCH) invites the public to be lifesavers at an upcoming event promoting health and solidarity. On Monday, September 11, 2023, a mass blood donation activity titled "Save a Life, Give a Blood" will be held from 7:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon at the hospital premises.
The initiative is in collaboration with the City Government, the Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC), and the Department of Health (DOH).
Dr. Joedina Baleos-Gumagay, Chief of Hospital, emphasized the importance of such blood-letting activities for patients. The hospital can easily provide blood to patients in need thanks to the contributions of diverse blood donors, avoiding the stress of frantic searches during critical times.
According to medical research, donating blood not only aids recipients but also benefits donors, including a reduced risk of heart attacks and strokes. Furthermore, it encourages the generation of new blood cells, rejuvenating the donor's blood and enhancing their overall physical strength.
Dr. Baleos-Gumagay stressed that the continuous blood donation drive aims to foster a community of willing and healthy donors, ultimately establishing a stable blood supply for emergency and medical needs.
The hospital is urging locals to seize this opportunity to possibly save lives and simultaneously improve their health through blood donation. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
