TACLOBAN CITY — The city government is taking a step forward in promoting hygiene and modernity through its New Slaughterhouse, ensuring fresh, safe, and clean meat for consumers in the public market.
Operations In-charge Ferdinand Balderosa emphasized that the facility has modern and comprehensive equipment. Its cleanliness is maintained rigorously owing to a stable water supply and the mandatory use of proper attire for all the employees within the premises. The policy also staunchly prohibits the entry of individuals under the influence of intoxicating substances to maintain a professional and safe working environment.
Balderosa guarantees that these measures will ensure the proper weight of pork and large cattle slaughtered in the facility. Reflecting the advancements, the slaughter process now incorporates 13 steps for pigs and 11 steps for large cattle, showcasing the meticulous approach adopted to adhere to the high operations standards.
Further reassuring the public, Balderosa emphasized that the meat undergoes a blast-freezing process after cleaning to retain its freshness and quality before reaching the city market. Slaughtering services remain affordable at Php 89 per pig head and Php 205 for large cattle.
The modernized facility operates daily, welcoming suppliers from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The slaughtering process commences at 9:00 p.m. and continues until 5:00 a.m., capable of handling up to 200 heads in the double A city slaughterhouse. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
