EASTERN VISAYAS – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office has launched a significant project geared towards improving the lives of rural residents through better infrastructure.
The current endeavor involves the concreting of a crucial Farm to Market Road (FMR) section from Sitio Kankinaway to Sitio Laoangan to Sitio Rombang, spanning Brgy. Poblacion 7 and Sitio Ilong Bukid, Brgy. Cababtoan in Pambujan, Northern Samar. Contracted to EFC Development Corporation, this project has a budget allocation of Php 14 million.
The project encompasses the concreting of 434.00 meters, featuring a width of 6.10 meters and a 0.25-meter thickness, complete with 1.50 meters of shoulder on both sides. It falls under the Department of Agriculture's Farm to Market Road budget for FY 2023, boasting an accomplishment rate of 94.63% as of October 31, 2023.
Expressing the project's significance, OIC District Engineer Charlie Carlobos highlighted its transformative impact. Carlobos stated that the upgraded road infrastructure will significantly ease transportation challenges, particularly for farmers, eradicating the ordeal of navigating unpaved and muddy paths, especially during the rainy season.
Moreover, the enhanced FMR is anticipated to contribute substantially to the holistic development of rural areas. It will foster better access to education, healthcare facilities, and various essential services, consequently stimulating economic growth. Beyond agriculture, these improved routes aim to attract investments, bolster rural development, and create diversified economic opportunities. —iTacloban (Source: DPWH-8)
