TACLOBAN CITY – Following its successful launch at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati on October 6, 2023, the Kanta Binisayá project is set to make its mark in Tacloban once again.
Conceived by Stephen Q. Lagarde, PhD., Kanta Binisayá is a remarkable endeavor dedicated to the promotion and broader dissemination of Eastern Visayas' rich musical heritage, culture, and identity. At its core, it aims to bridge the generation gap by introducing classical and beautiful binisaya music of the past to modern Eastern Visayans, offering them the necessary educational resources.
The project includes a book containing a collection of iconic binisaya songs and choral arrangements, complemented by an album featuring the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers.
The upcoming book launch event is scheduled to take place at the UP-Leyte Samar Heritage Center Main Gallery on November 9, 2023. This remarkable initiative is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Office of the Speaker, Hon. Martin Romualdez, Tingog Party List, the City Government of Tacloban, and the Department of Tourism Regional Office 8.
