CSC Region 8 opens online and onsite applications for the civil service exam, with 4,500 slots available (as of Dec. 20, 2023) for the March 3, 2024 test. |
TACLOBAN CITY – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) Regional Office VIII has announced that it is accepting online and on-site applications for the Career Service Examination – Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for professional and subprofessional levels, which will be held on March 3, 2024.
According to the CSC, there are still 4,500 slots available for Region 8 as of December 20, 2023. The application period will run until January 3, 2024, or until the slots are filled, whichever comes first.
The examination fee is P500, and applicants can apply online by logging into their account at bit.ly/CSCregion8-login. They will need to upload the following requirements:
- Original and photocopy of valid ID card (with date of birth)
- Four (4) pieces passport size ID pictures with nametag and signature
- Birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority or the Local Civil Registry (only for applicants without date of birth in their ID cards/s)
Alternatively, applicants can personally visit the CSC Examination Services Division, Regional Office 8, Candahug, Palo, Leyte, or its nearest Field Offices to submit their applications. The CSC has also opened on-site processing of applications for the Tacloban Test Center, which aims to provide convenience and accessibility for the applicants.

On-site processing is available at the CSC Regional Office and Field Offices in Region 8, except on holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Applicants can also sign up for an OCSEAS account application through the portal at https://bit.ly/CSCregion8-register for a speedy transaction.
The CSC Regional Office VIII covers the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Northern Samar.
The CSE-PPT is a general ability test that assesses applicants for civil service on their verbal, analytical, numerical, and clerical skills. One of the basic requirements for permanent appointment in government positions is passing the exam.
