TACLOBAN CITY – Fireworks vendors in Tacloban are all set for the New Year’s Eve celebration, as they have completed the necessary documents and permits to sell fireworks legally and safely.
The vendors are located at the Grand Hotel Area (seaside), which is the designated area for selling fireworks. Aside from the special permit, the vendors must also have fire extinguishers, drums with water supply, and no smoking signs at their stalls. Authorities visit the stalls daily to ensure that the regulations are followed.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) have released a list of prohibited fireworks or firecrackers to ensure a safe celebration of the New Year. The agencies urge the public to end the year 2024 without any injuries and avoid using the banned fireworks.
According to the Special Permit Firecrackers issued by the city government, the sale of legal fireworks is allowed in the specified area from December 20, 2023, to January 1, 2024. —iTacloban (with reports from CIO)
