TACLOBAN CITY – The city government of Tacloban has prepared various ways for business owners to renew their permits for 2024 in anticipation of a high volume of applicants.
According to the Business Permits and Licensing Division, more than 8,000 business operators are expected to apply for permit renewals from January 2 to January 20, 2024.
To avoid congestion and inconvenience, the city government has set up three off-site venues for renewal processing: Robinsons Marasbaras, Robinsons Abucay, and Gaisano Real. These satellite offices are located in malls that are easily accessible and convenient for taxpayers.
Business owners can also opt to renew their permits online through the city’s official website, businessportal.tacloban.gov.ph, where they can download the unified application form and submit the required documents.
The acting head of the licensing division, Gemafiel Gaspay, reminded the public of the importance of renewing their permits on time, as stipulated in the City Ordinance 99-58. The ordinance imposes a 25 percent surcharge of the total amount due, plus an additional two percent every month of delay, for those who fail to renew their permits within the renewal period.
Gaspay also said that the satellite offices and the Business One-Stop-Shop in City Hall will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, to accommodate the applicants. He added that aside from business permits, real property assessment and payments will also be accepted at the venues, with staff from the City Assessor’s Office ready to assist the taxpayers.
With a revenue target of P300-600 million, the city government aims to facilitate a smooth and efficient renewal process, ensuring that local businesses comply with the regulations and contribute to the economic development of Tacloban City. —iTacloban (with reports from CIO)
