TACLOBAN CITY – A major road project that will improve the mobility and livelihood of the residents of Barangay 107 Sta. Elena, according to the Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO), is nearing completion.
The project involves the opening and concreting of the Sta. Elena Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) is currently at 70% completion and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The project is funded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the General Appropriations Act of 2023, with a total contract amount of P 15,840,000.00.
The Sta. Elena FMR, which has a net length of 1.40 lane kilometers, will provide better access and connectivity for the residents of the barangay, especially the farmers who rely on the road to transport their produce to the market. The road will also support the development of other economic activities in the area, such as tourism and trade.
District Engineer Johnny M. Acosta, who leads the TCDEO, said that the project is part of their commitment to enhancing the local infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in Tacloban City. “The Sta. Elena Farm-to-Market Road is a vital project that will benefit the community and the agricultural sector. As we reach the 70% completion milestone, we look forward to the positive impact it will have on the quality of life and the economic opportunities of the residents,” he said.
The road project is one of the many infrastructure projects the TCDEO is implementing in Tacloban City in coordination with the local government and other agencies.
