Comelec launches "Register Anywhere" in Eastern Visayas to engage young voters

Comelec launches the 'Register Anywhere Project' in Eastern Visayas to engage young voters. Streamlining voter registration, the project aims to boost participation in the 2025 elections.

TACLOBAN CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Eastern Visayas launched the "Register Anywhere Project (RAP)" on Monday, February 26, 2024, with the goal of increasing youth participation in the 2025 midterm elections.

The University of the Philippines (UP) Tacloban College will serve as the primary site for this initiative. The RAP seeks to simplify and improve the voter registration process by allowing eligible voters to register in any town or city of their choice.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a morning session on voter education, followed by a mini-forum and the registration process. Open to students, registrants must present a government-issued identification (ID) card and complete a form, which can also be downloaded from the official website www.comelec.gov.ph.

New voter applications, transfers, corrections, name changes, and registration reactivation will be available through September 30, 2024.

This extensive voter registration drive coincides with Comelec's preparations for the national and local elections on May 12, 2025, as well as the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on December 5, 2025.

In October 2023, Comelec Tacloban reported 147,126 registered voters. The RAP aims to increase this number significantly in the coming months. —iTacloban (with reports from CIO)
