TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office No. 8 (DOLE-RO8) has issued a warning regarding widespread misinformation online about the wages for workers hired under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
The false information claims that TUPAD beneficiaries are entitled to a P800 daily wage. However, DOLE-RO8 clarified that this is not true and that TUPAD beneficiaries are entitled to a daily wage equivalent to the region's minimum wage.
As per Wage Order No. RBVIII-23, the prevailing minimum wage in Eastern Visayas is Php 405.00, effective November 30, 2023. This means that TUPAD beneficiaries in Eastern Visayas are entitled to a daily wage of Php 405.00.
