TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8) recently organized an inspiring mass wedding ceremony called "Kasalang Pulis sa Rehiyon Otso," which united fifty couples at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño in Tacloban City on February 23, 2024.
This special event brought together 55 police non-commissioned officers, one non-uniformed personnel, one fire officer, and 43 civilians, all of whom exchanged vows in a beautiful and meaningful ceremony.
The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Fr. PMAJ Rhey J Dollesin, the Regional Pastoral Officer of PRO 8, who emphasized the importance of friendship, fecundity, fidelity, and forgiveness in maintaining a thriving marriage. He encouraged the couples to follow the example of Jesus' selflessness and dedication to others and stressed the significance of a prayerful life.

RD Pawid expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support that made the mass wedding possible, considering it a best practice for PRO 8. He extended his warmest congratulations to the couples, wishing them a fruitful and forgiving marriage.
The mass wedding is an annual event organized by the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division and the Regional Chaplain Service. It aims to formalize the relationships of both uniformed and non-uniformed PNP personnel who are cohabiting without the sacrament of matrimony, aligning with the PNP's values of morality and decency.
The ceremony concluded with a traditional reception at Pacific Point in San Jose, Tacloban City. The reception featured wedding rituals and a same-day edit audio-visual presentation. Members of the Command Group, the Chiefs of the Regional Staff, and the newlyweds' families were in attendance. —iTacloban
