TACLOBAN CITY – The City Veterinary Office (CVO) is at the forefront of promoting responsible pet ownership through its ongoing initiatives to control the city's pet population. As part of its comprehensive program, the office recently conducted free surgical sterilization procedures for dogs on February 22, 2024.

The City Veterinary Office, conveniently located in the Tacloban City Supermarket building, provides these services as part of its routine spay and neuter program. The procedures performed by the office's in-house veterinarian are crucial in curbing the number of stray and unwanted animals in the city.

Pet owners interested in availing themselves of these services can easily schedule an appointment by contacting the Tacloban City Veterinary Office via Facebook or by visiting the office directly on the second floor of the supermarket building.

The CVO also offers free spaying services every week from Monday to Wednesday and neutering procedures from Monday to Friday, providing pet owners with accessible options to ensure the well-being of their pets.

In addition to its spay and neuter program, the CVO is actively engaged in anti-rabies vaccination activities across various barangays and Yolanda housing sites throughout February. Scheduled visits include Barangays 105 Guadalupe 1, 2, and 3 on February 23, Barangay 100 San Roque on February 26, Barangays 94 Tigbao and 94-A Basper on February 27, Barangay 12 Palanog on February 28, and Barangay 37-A Palanog on February 29.

Furthermore, the CVO will participate in the Grand Barangayan event on February 24 at Marasbaras Elementary School, along with 34 other city government offices and uniformed services. During this event, the veterinary office will provide mass vaccination and deworming services as part of its commitment to community outreach and pet welfare. —iTacloban (with reports from CIO)
