TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended a helping hand to Pantawid households in Tanauan Leyte, with each of the 204 families receiving a grant of Php 25,000.
This financial aid, distributed through the Enhanced Support Services Intervention (ESSI) on June 13 at the local Amphitheater, aims to empower the beneficiaries with the necessary start-up capital to improve their livelihoods.
The ESSI, a key component of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, is tailored to meet the immediate needs of qualified individuals, families, and communities based on the Family Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (FRVA) and the Social Welfare and Development Indicator (SWDI) assessment.
The grants are expected to enable the Pantawid households to establish a steady source of income, thereby paving the way for enhanced well-being and economic stability.
One of the grant recipients, Hermenihilda Capidos, expressed her appreciation for the support, which she plans to use to expand her Sari-sari store. “Dako ini na bulig para makadugang han amon pakabuhi. Pinaagi hini, maka-generate ako hin mas dako nga income para akon pamilya,” she remarked, highlighting the significant impact the ESSI grants will have on her family’s financial growth. —iTacloban
