TACLOBAN CITY – In a heartfelt ceremony, the local government of Tacloban City, through the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), paid homage to its dedicated employees and retirees. The ‘Salamat-Mabuhay’ program, held at the Pacific Point Events Place and Resort, recognized the unwavering commitment of public servants who have devoted their careers to serving the community.

The event, aligned with the Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 7, series of 1998, honored 19 retirees and 48 employees who have served the government for 10 years or more. Among the esteemed retirees were Atty. Anacleto Rei Lacanilao III from the City Information Office, Dr. Liza Serevilla of the Tacloban City Hospital, and Cielito Esquibel, a Population Program Officer IV from the City Population Office, who dedicated 36 years of service.

Cielito Esquibel shared inspiring words, reflecting on the impact of her work. “I’ve been touching lives, young and old, and that’s one of the most fulfilling experiences I will carry in my heart forever,” she stated. Her early retirement is a step towards spending more cherished moments with family and friends.

The ceremony also featured Florentina Meneses, a loyalty award recipient with 40 years of service, who delivered a moving testimony about her dedication to government service. The retirees were honored with a plaque, a basket of goods, and a cash gift of P5,000, while loyalty awardees received tokens such as pins, rings, and bracelets, along with certificates and gift cheques, symbolizing the gratitude for their passion and service.

The tribute was led by Atty. Annaliza A. Quiliope, acting HRMDO head, OIC-Assistant City Administrator Gemafiel Gaspay, and Councilor Leo Bahin, representing Mayor Alfred Romualdez. The community looks forward to the next ‘Pasidungog’ event in December, continuing the tradition of honoring those who serve with heart and dedication.

This event not only acknowledges the past contributions of these individuals but also sets a precedent for the value of public service in Tacloban City, inspiring current and future generations to uphold the same level of commitment and passion for their work. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
