TACLOBAN CITY – The Northern Samar Provincial Health Office (NSPHO) is currently monitoring a suspected monkeypox case in Catarman involving a 24-year-old male.

The patient, who has been experiencing fever, body weakness, and vesicular rashes for the past two weeks, is under isolation and receiving medical care. Despite these symptoms, the individual has no recent travel history, prompting local health authorities to proceed with caution.

NSPHO has initiated confirmatory testing to determine if the patient is indeed infected with Monkeypox. Additionally, the Catarman Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (MESU) has started contact tracing efforts to identify potential exposures and prevent further spread.

“Our surveillance systems are fully operational, allowing us to closely monitor the situation and safeguard our community from potential health risks,” the NSPHO stated.

Health officials urge the public to stay informed through credible sources and adhere to updated health guidelines as the situation unfolds. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any symptoms consistent with Monkeypox to local health authorities.

For more information or guidance, the public can contact the NSPHO directly at 055-500-9162 or via email at pho2nsamar20@gmail.com. The office remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. —iTacloban
